Phew, now I've bored you all to bits. The day was very eventful, very wet at first, and very tiring. Now I can catch up with all your posts. Thank you for bearing with me.

Just to bore everyone to bits here is video of my sons last three chicks fledging. One of his chicks went on bank holiday Monday, Tuesday we don't know because no-one was at home, the other three decided to go today but not without a hiccup. About 3 o'clock this afternoon looked like they were about to pop out so to speak when a bird interrupted their flow and gave them a bit of a fright. they went very quiet and didn't appear again for another two hours. However, they made it in the end. Does anyone know what this bird is? Sorry picture not good but a still from a very bad video:

Don't know if it meant any harm but was very insistent. Actually put head right in hole at one stage. Had to frighten it away just in case. May just have been curious because of the commotion.

Ps if you watch the video, can you turn the sound down please. Forgot we were videoing so don't know what was said!!!!!

I am now off to bed for a good sleep

Last, but not least, a couple of video stills taken from an iPad screen so forgive the quality, but just to show the beauty of these boxes when watching a fledging. So cute.

Meant to add on mine. Saw one chick fledging before I managed to get my camera set, don't know if any others had already gone whilst my back was turned just for a few minutes (typical). Anyway, started with 9 eggs. Two chicks died and a third we found dead in the nest, so not good. Two, we know fledged, but don't know what happened to the others. Not a good count is it. Wish we really knew why.

well there I was this morning thinking I was going to have a relaxing day when I had a phone call from my son telling me he had to go to work and there was another chick hanging out one of the holes Shocked . I donned some clothes quick and ran the luckily short distance to his house. Sure enough this is what I saw

if you look closely enough you will see a second face in the shadow in the right hand hole. First one fledges and sits in the Canadian breeze blocks next to the box

.Then mum calls and chick flies to bush in garden. Second chick appears in the hole

. Did it fledge? Nooooo. I waited over two hours and the chick just went back in the box and hasn't shown its face since. I would have loved to stay longer but with the way things are going it could be there yet another day. Parents coming back and feeding the one in the bush, but while I was there only one parent went to the box offered food on the outside and flew away calling. It has been an hour since that now and parents are ignoring the one in the box. I know its nature, but he looked ok so be a shame if he perished now. Don't know right thing to do. Not my birds or my box. Son and daughter in law say will look tonight and watch for parents. So hope good outcome, but they do have others outside to care for now. So that was one fledged Monday, no idea if any fledged Tuesday, three fledged Wednesday, one fledged Thursday, and one still in the box 'til who knows when. Has anyone else experienced such a big time laps with fledgings from the same clutch?? Must put it out my mind for now and do some work or divorce courts will be beckoning!!!!

I guess it could have been Beechnut. Didn't think of wren cause I think tail looked longer but will have another look at video. I just panicked as did the parents and chicks. Thanks for the suggestion.
