Hi folks I've been following the forum for a while now and thought I'd join in, I have great tits nesting and the eggs hatched early morning Saturday 22nd and sunday everything seems to be going well although this cold snap could change things a bit, anyway i'll try and attach some photo's when I get the hang of this as this is the first time I've joined a forum.

Welcome Pete

Yes, pleased to hear from you and hopefully see some pics!

Your GT nest is only the third reported on the forum this year - you've swelled our numbers by 50%, Brian Hardy(?) in Ireland being the other.

Looking forward to see how your nest develops, my 7 are happily gorging on mini mealworms from the feeder which is only about 10 yards across the lawn from the box.

Hey Paul and Beechnut thanks for your welcome, here's a couple of pictures..... if I've done it right.

Beechnut, ill be ordering some mealworms tonight I was going to leave them to there own accord as they seemed to be doing OK, but today the feeding has slowed down with this cold snap so a little helping hand I think.

Paul good to see Dunnocks on here don't think I've seen that before.

Good stuff Pete. Lovely clear pictures too.
Yes you can load upto around 250kb photos if you want.
You can also add more than one at a time - repeat the procedure but don't submit until you are ready. Experiment you can always delete or edit a post(!)

Keep the updates coming.

Good move with the mealworms, I've ordered some regulars for tomorrow or Saturday to make sure they have a weekend supply!

Hi Pete

I am pleased you have joined the forum we need more men on here Roll on the floor laughing

The lovely pictures of your Great Tit's are a credit to you -I am envious as I had hoped for one this year but I mustn't grumble as I have a BT nest!!!

Well done for the technical stuff took me a while to master it but think my photo posts are passable now!

Looking forward to seeing how things go with your family.Where are you based understand if you don't want to say but it helps when we are judging nest progress across the country.

Beechnut, thanks for that tip about attaching the pics i'll try that.
I ordered the mini mealworms they should arrive tomorrow or Saturday also.

Blueeyedchick, a humorous welcome thanks.
I was hoping for blue tits this year in my other box as I've only ever had GT's, they started to nest but suddenly stopped maybe they got intimidated by the GT's as the box's aren't that far apart... but hey I'm happy.
I am in south east London very near to Woolwich, I should've stated that when I joined up I rushed it a bit.

Glad you both liked the pic's theirs gonna be loads more coming.

Hi Pete, and welcome Very Happy . Well done on attaching the pics which are very good. I have no occupants in my boxes this year so I'm relying on people like you for my entertainment. Good luck to them all

Hey Gina thanks for the welcome.
This is the first activity I've had since 2014 so I know it can be a bit disappointing when you don't get anything.
Ill try and keep the photos coming as much as I can, I may also try and get some videos on you tube.

Hi Kath, well they are certainly being fed well and they seem to be an experienced pair of birds, so a week after hatching its still looking good.

Out of curiosity how many of you are putting out mealworms or the like for your birds?

I think everybody on here puts out mealworms pete, I use mealworms and waxworms as do a few others.

Just gives the birds an extra food supply, Have noticed our blue tits over the years don't tend to use them the first few days of the chicks hatching but they soon start using them and it becomes pretty much there main food supply.
