Roll on the floor laughing Roll on the floor laughing Paul the discoverer I'll take it Elle Laughing

It was just something have noticed in my boxes, I am sure females will roost at the back of the box too I don't know whether its a set thing or not, But they do roost at the front of my boxes.

All 4 roosters still going strong 2 males, 2 females.

Fingers crossed the females go on to nest, I have a feeling "Emily" will.

I wish Maria Laughing I just live on a normal street with loads of other houses, Just an everyday council street really. I have built the number of birds up over the years by feeding them this time 6 or 7 years ago I wouldn't of had 1 rooster let alone 4 Laughing now I have a healthy number of blue tits.

Sue, Don't give up yet. Temps are meant to be dropping alot during this weekend for all the UK might bring you a little rooster!

Little update, 1 my females (side box) as been bringing straw in last day or 2 nothing to get excited about just the odd little piece and doing nest wriggles while she comes and cleans up the overnight poo.

Still have 4 roosters, I am now thinking it is 3 females and 1 male at this point 3 of the boxes are being cleaned daily compared to the males which is a mess.

Also little sparrow update the male sparrows been back visiting the box that's been used the last 2 years

Here's a little video of him

And here's a picture

Have you had a look in your none camera boxes doing the daytime for droppings Sue? Could be roosting in a box without a camera maybe worth having a peak during the day.

Turned my side box on this morning (Where I've got a female rooster for the last few weeks) and shes bought a few beaks full of moss in!

Picture here

Small video here (isn't off her bringing material in missed that just of her in the box with the material)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SapN53kLpcQ

Never had this happen before in my boxes, I have seen it happen to Angelo and then she went on to breed in the box in spring but its never happened to me, She started about a week or 2 ago bringing abit of straw in but it was 1 or 2 pieces nothing big but this is clearly a decent beak or 2 full of moss.

Good picture Paul. Just like my Lily BT with the moss, although she is using what's in there to cover up her droppings -naughty girl!!! Laughing
GT is also starting to foul her bed!

I think it must be the milder temps although I hear we might be in for a white Christmas? Laughing but don't hold your breath.

Thank you Maria and Kathy,

Your comment about Lily hiding her poo with the moss made me laugh Kathy Roll on the floor laughing our female bringing moss in keeps the box so clean there isn't even one piece of poo in there, She visits ALOT during the day too. Plenty of nest wriggles and peaking of the box. I watched the box for a hour today and she came in 4 times within the hour nest wriggles, cleaning herself in the box, peaking the hole, playing with the moss.

I think she will breed there in spring I will be very shocked if she didn't unless something bad happens to her in the lead up to spring fingers crossed it doesn't.

P.s still got all 4 roosters.

Well Paul, lovely pic/video. How lucky are you. Sure to be plenty of nests for you again in the coming year. I have at least had a bit of excitement this morning. Sat eating my breakfast when a blue tit landed on one of my boxes, gave it a really good inspection inside and out. Stayed for about 10 minutes before flying off. Shall now be keeping my fingers crossed that it returns to roost. Not my camera box but still one visible from my kitchen and dining room. My only bit of excitement for a long time - poor old woman lol. Not posting much but popping on the forum every few days to hear of your, Kathy, ELLE, Maria etc news
