Thanks Scribbles, You should post more during the Spring when your box is used, You don't need camera inside to post about it or get some pictures from outside the box, I'd love to see your updates next season should think about it!

Anyway male sparrow as been checking out the box that got used by sparrows this season twice, I think it could be same male who used the box this season he seems very comfy in there while checking it out!

Here's a little picture collage saves posting 3 pictures the top one he is fixing the nest up, I am now thinking of leaving this nest in until next season for him.

Here's the pictures anyway

Nice photos of the little man! You're being lucky so far with birds showing interest in two of your boxes already, so I really hope they "stick with it" and raise a family in them next year. Smile

To be quite honest Paul, in the Spring it takes me all my time to read all the messages people put on, (except for last year when there were so many disasters) without me adding to them. You'll probably have a fit when I tell you that I'm 72 with a very big garden (100' long) and this year I'm struggling to cope with it.

Unfortunately, my husband can no longer do anything in the garden, so a firm come in to cut the lawn etc. every two weeks, I've had to learn how to look after our small pond as well as my usual flower borders. Not helped by the fact that I'm not as fast as I used to be either! Wink

Male blue tit is still roosting every night he as made a right mess of the box going to have to remove the front panel and clean it out monthly I think Rolling Eyes

The male and female sparrow have been visiting the box they nested in during the summer still daily, I don't think will lead to a nest now but god knows why they are visiting so much I know sparrows pair up for LIFE and use the nest same over and over so many there just checking it out for next season am just going to leave the old sparrow nest in there now for them to use again next year.

Thanks for the updates, shame you have to clear up the mess the male blue tit is making.

It sounds like the pair of sparrows are just keeping an eye on their nest, until they want to nest in it again next year.

You did a great job there, whether he appreciates it or not. However, if you would like to do some cleaning for me, I WOULD appreciate it! Laughing

Whilst out inspecting the boxes I had so far put in our new surroundings, I noticed that one of them has plenty of straw/grass hanging out of the drainage at the bottom of the box. I've not seen anybody going in or out but clearly somebody is up to something in there.

I decided to check on another box I have in the front garden with a view to moving it to make way for the Tawny Owl box, and to my surprise, 10 foot up the ladder, a Blue Tit came out of the nest hole straight past my face.

That was not something I was expecting on 27th October, but clearly the warm weather down here is playing tricks with the bird population.

Ah well, all good prospects for next season.

Haven't updated this thread for a month so here is a little update.

I still have my two roosters, I believe on is female and one is male, The female as been roosting over a month and the box is clean no poo's no nothing however the males is a mess I have to clean it every few weeks.

Here's a video of what I believe is the female rooster in one of my side view box

Also here is a picture

here is a picture of my other rooster as you can see his box is a mess it would of been worst but it got cleaned out two weeks ago.

Also the female and male sparrow have been visiting the box they raised two broods in this year every single day without fail so I haven't removed the nest I think they are keeping an eye on it for spring since sparrows stay together until death and use same nest every year.

And lastly, I have had blue tits visiting all my boxes during the day I have 8 camera boxes in total and every one over the last week has had visits, Mostly visits at the hole pecking around it and odd quick look inside.

Sorry for the massive update its been a while haha! Hope you enjoy the little video and pictures whoever is reading this roll on Spring! Very Happy
