Hi everyone,

We have installed a nest camera on the eave above a collapsed Housemartin nest. A housemartin has returned to it and we are getting some amazing footage. The Housemartin comes to the nest around 8pm and stays until around 6am.

We have noticed that a small amount of reconstruction has taken place to increase the ledge of mud. However, no building takes place for a few days then another small addition is made, followed by a another period of no building. I have read that nest construction can take 10-15 days. Is the building normally as stop start as this, or should it be more continuous.

Do the birds mate before construction or does the nest get built first?
