Achillea millefolium (siankärsämö). Common, has little white flowers.

Finnish plant atlas: http://www.luomus.fi/kasviatlas/maps.php?taxon=43339&year=2008

Ah, I was in the right section of the school Kasvio. I just had not thought entire fields of it would appear with all the white flowers withered to colorless types. Or do the stalks go up with no flowers this time of year?

I have some new plant books, Weeds of the Midwestern States. Grasses tend to be eastern, where I want grasses of the great plains.

Achillea flowers often this late, but sometimes you see flowerless meadows of this species.

Yes you are right. I will have the owner spray some roundup on it. Is "weed a perennial?

I took my picture off. Don't want it in my photobucket.

Oh, I was actually just being funny, though it did look to me like marijuana, don't know if it actually was.

That's what is says here:

I also noticed the weed, not sure if it really is that weed.

Few years ago one bush grew in the backyard of one Finnish bird station. The incident is documented in Finnish in the last verse of following hit song:

It does look like it. There was an incident I think around one Embassy or Parliament, don't remember in which country, where wild marijuana plants had grown all around it. Pretty funny stuff.

The property owner of the special weed in the upper photo is in her 80s. I took a saw to the woody stems of the weed and cut it all out. Threw it in her brush pile. The weed wacker they use for ditches and places where the weed likes to grow does not cut the woody stems. You have to get them in spring. The weed grows in ditches widely in that area.
