Hi Malcolm

If you look at the images above you can see a orange blur by the birds chest, thats the blood on the lens.

Its such a shame as this might affect wether the camera gets aired, we will have to wait and see, all depends what the producer thinks.

That shot down the throat is pretty good.

Peter - we usually record Spring Watch, and view it later, however today there was a technical hitch (so far unexplained) and so we missed the first half - but at least we were in time to watch the second half "live".

Did we miss anything else of particular note?

Hi Peter

On holiday in Sneem at the moment (SW Ireland), but I heard from sringwatch tonight to say they put some footage up tonight and they want us back as they are going to send a unit down to "make a story".

As I did not see it can you let me know how they were cursuory ?

There is a huge amount of inter reserve politics involved in the show, and the other night a thunderstorm knocked out 30% of the SW cameras (as well as the nest cam).

They want to show more footage so they want us to replace it for coverage next week, maybe live. We also have a "sprawk" butchering table under watch and we think this may provide some of the Springwatch "horror" footage.

Thanks for the news, shame I missed it, and I await your view of the footage and the comments.

Thanks

Huw

This is fantastic,Huw - we'll double check that the recording will take place from now on.

Appeal for help!

Is there anyone out there who could send us a copy of a recording of Thursday's programme - as I said (above) a gremlin caused a mal-function of our recording of the first half. Isn't it just a ********** that this should happen when Huw's camera gets its first public airing!!!!!! Evil or Very Mad

Thanks so much Josh - this never occurred to us, we're becoming dinosaurs!!!! Laughing (Though normally this sort of thing is recorded automatically on our media centre, so we shouldn't need it).

Thanks again Josh. We've just been watching via iPlayer!

The marsh harrier piece was about 19 minutes from the start of the programme. That's why we missed it last night because we only saw the programme's second half!

Terrific views of the nest site. Pity one can only keep it for 7 days after the first viewing.

don't know why I said 50mins, probably hadn't woken up properly...

if you're on Virgin TV you can select 'catch up tv' and then record it

Hi All

This is pretty frustrating, I can't get iPlayer in Ireland (says you have to be in the UK to use it).

We will be back in the UK on sunday, and the camera should be operational next week hopefully.

At the end of springwatch I will post the link on here and make it available for you to see.

Huw

PS What were the images like ? Good and clear ?

I thought the quality was very good, but the footage very short, no mention about the camera being attacked but there was excellent views of the chicks

the camera was at a slight tilt but nothing major

I wonder if it's possible Huw to set up a proxy to your UK server to connect to the iPlayer site?
