Did anyone see this programme at 9.00 p.m. on BBC1 tonight with Alan Titchmarsh?

Some stunning filming and again the most fantastic shots of Starlings creating "structural art" against the sky. Wonderful stuff!

Yep, absolutely fantastic. Amazing photography, especially like the Alderney "blonde" hedgehogs, and that Starling footage was out of this world, the best I've ever seen for that display. I had to look away when the Gull was after the puffins, and when the seals were ripping lumps out of each other. Otherwise fabulous, will be an avid watcher every week for sure. Plus Alan can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned, he's a brilliant presenter. Smile

Watched the Chris Packham show last night, and loved it, every bit as good as the Alan Titchmarsh one, quite similar to Nature's Calendar actually. It's on earlier next week, I think they said at 9 oclock BBC4 - so NO EXCUSES! WATCH IT. Very Happy

I've tracked this down:

The Nature of Britain: A User's Guide
1/8. Chris Packham takes a journey through the history of Britain's passion for wildlife and its conservation. [S] BBC 4

Wed 10 Oct, 23:00-00:00 60mins Stereo Widescreen

Programme 2 is on at 10pm on Wednesday 17th.

Edit I've just discovered that Programme 1 will be repeated at 8pm on Sunday.

i'm watching the Packham one now and its better than the Titchmarsh. Very enjoyable and he visited my Forest Very Happy

The Deer aren't that easy to see. You need to be up early. Saw about 30 on new years day last year.

Thought you'd like that bit. Nothing could surpass that Starling roost though in the first one. I watched it again tonight (both lots) and was talking to mum on the phone when that came on, she was gobsmacked by it too.

Am now watching UKTV Gardens, have been ever since, it's back to back British Isles: A Natural History, also with Alan Titchmarsh. These are pretty similar too, I didn't realise he got to do so much other than gardening though. Very Happy

I thought tonight's one was the best one yet, I guess it's because I spend a lot of time near rivers, so the wildlife around them is some of my favourite. The shots of the Kingfisher were fantastic, and awwww the Harvest Mouse and the tiny babies, so cute. Smile The Water Shrew was very interesting too, had no idea they swam and breathed underwater. Great, great programme. I hope they do a DVD of all 8 shows, I wish I'd recorded all of them really and done my own, Maybe they will all be repeated again though.

I really enjoyed last night's programmes too, I sat up till 11pm (very late for me!) to watch both. Those harvest mice were beautiful, and the sulky teenage kingfisher who wouldn't eat his tea was really funny. I'll look forward to the remaining programmes!
