Does anybody else's female go absent overnight?

Gina left the box in darkness at around 9.15 last night and came back at 5.10am this morning.

Spent a sleepless night thinking we'd lost her, but both parents back feeding now.

Neutral

Not a good sign Joe as your chicks are only 4 or 5 days' old.

Odd that she came back this morning - are you sure she was away all night?

Hopefully just a blip! The chicks will need to be kept warm during the night.

Not heard anyone say this happens Joe. Are all the chicks ok? Are you sure she wasn't in the box? Very odd.
Hope she very quickly learns what she must do.

The camera showed her leaving around 9.15 and I checked at various intervals until going to bed and she clearly wasn't there.

Camera records her arriving back at 5.11 this morning. I haven't had the chance for a role call yet to see if all the chicks are still OK.

Last time this happened we lost the female, and the male reared 3 chicks alone.

Same thing happened mine last year Joe, when Chicks were 11 days old, I was able to check the footage and saw she left nest at 9.40pm with a faecal sac and hesitated coming back in to nest (maybe darkness, Cat ...who knows Think ) anyway 3 chicks died, possibly of cold....She never did it again so Pray

Oh, Joe I know how you must be feeling. A strange thing to happen leaving the chicks so early overnight. We have only experienced this close to fledging. .

Hopefully like others say it's only a blip! Perhaps Dad might carry on if she does a runner? Where are you up to now with it?

I've looked on your live stream and what I can see appears to be female behaviour but not totally sure as the camera is not focusing properly as Beechnut has said.

Fingers crossed for you.

Kathy

At least one adult bird is feeding Joe according to your live stream - can't see how many chicks in the cup as the overhead camera is not operating!

Good Luck
