|
|
Having watched 2 successive Blackbird broods, in a nest below our unoccupied nestbox, we thought it was all over for this year. Now we have a female taking huge amounts of nest material into another bush - which is actually right outside the kitchen window.
It was a bit confusing at first as there seemed to be 3 birds involved, which appeared to be youngsters. Now I think it could be a female and possibly 2 of her offspring hanging around her as she builds.
Need to get a camera in there asap. |

Now sitting on 3 eggs - this seems very late to be laying in late June. |

2 chicks just hatched in almost mid-July. The sparrows are having another brood too. |

The second set of sparrows have flown from under the garage roof tiles. And I think it is 3 blackbird chicks.
The little sparrows I'm guessing - not venturing too far from home:

Well I was never sure whether there were ever 3 chicks but there were at least 2 - now it seems there is only one. There only ever seems to be one parent coming and going so maybe she can't support more than one chick. |
