Just poped a camera over a blackbird nest in my ivy.

Camera angle isn't great at moment but it was a rush job while she was off the nest when we have chicks i'll place the camera hiding so mum isn't just a big blob when she sits on the nest haha!

Magpies have raided the blackbirds nest and took the eggs they was so close to hatching Crying or Very sad did run out to stop it but it was too late sadly.

So sorry to read your post. They are pesky things aren't they but once they spy a chance they will go for it so even if you had stopped them this time they would have returned, so sad though.
Blackbirds have several nests attempts so will start again probably somewhere else so keep 'em peeled!! Sad

So sad Paul, happened to ours over 3 weeks ago. Ours have relaid in same nest with 6 eggs. The problem is that the magpie is nesting at the end of the street and is attracted by the mealworms. They watch for Blackbirds entering or leaving shrubs or ivy then go in and look for the nest. They take the eggs one by one and I saw one storing them in some long grass.

Bloody annoying!
