How much do you spend feeding wild birds? I buy around 15 loaves of bread a week, a friend brings 4 more and an old man bring 1 or 2 (plus donkey carrots) in exchange for manure. I also buy a 20 kg bag of wild bird seed around every 10 days (£12.99) Nyjer seed, 1kg a week. 10 kg mixed corn for swans/moorhens/ducks (weekly). Another friend donates lots of fat balls, at least 4 a day are devoured here and I make some too. Fruit is given by the school where I clean. I can't afford peanuts too.

I don't get nearly such big numbers here, but at a more typical time I guess a 13kg bag of sunflower hearts will last me around a month. I buy 3kg bags of suet pellets which I MAKE last a month, as they're very expensive! In my big once-a-month delivered shop from Tesco I order four bags of value raisins, which usually last until the next delivery. That's all I feed – I buy the occasional bag of fat balls, but they usually go off before they're eaten. So around £30-£35 a month? Sometimes (like now) it's much less that that because there are few birds around, but I don't think it's ever gone much more than £35 for a month. It's still quite a bit of cash, though!
