I took these pictures at around 4.00pm yesterday on our way home. They are of The Cob at Porthmadog, near to the old toll booth. Up until a few years ago, you had to stop and pay five pence to cross this stretch of road, or ? If you were local you raised your hand and waved. Very Happy

There were hundreds of ducks on the sand banks at low tide. They were mostly wigeon, but there were also some beautiful little teal, that I managed a really good close up view of. I also saw over a dozen shell duck feeding in the ooze, along with the obligatory mallard.
As you drive around the countryside, you will see pairs of these pairing up and appearing in the most unexpected of places as they try to get a little bit of privacy away from the crowd. Smile

If you ever travel to the Porthmadog area, its well worth the effort to try and give yourself ten minutes to have a look at the foreshore in this spot. At times, there are even more ducks than yesterday and quite a few other species. Very Happy

If you come up this way Pete, it will be worth a look at the Pwllheli heronery.

And a foreign interloper amongst the native Grey Herons, its a White Egret. There are about forty nests and they are a beautiful sight, especially in the evenings when all the birds return to this one particular area to roost.
