Conwy has a two mile walk round route to follow with a nice selection of hides...(really odd isn't it how some of the humans observed at the hides did not appear to understand that the hides were there to enable people to observe the bird life without being noticed by the birds...not quite sure how their loud but LOUD conversation helped the process) be that as it may the high light was to see a kingfisher,(very briefly) and we had a distant view of a coot. Not seen either for e long time. There were some lovely flowers on show and I managed close up shots of a small brown dragon/damselfly.
The best birding of the day however was on the beach margins both sides of Llandudno...The Crow family were out in force and I have a collection of shots including Raven, Crow,Rook and Magpie. Also spotted Wagtails (Pied) a number of gulls and a Magpie or two.
The Raven was a first for me (apart from the Tower if London but that doesn't really count)
PS. Nothing to do with Wales: I was in the garden the other day when a wren almost fell out of the hedge and into a gap in the fence. Then just as if to say yes I am a wren it ran along one of the horizontal bars of the fence and disappeared again....not seen it since.....but that was a one and only since we moved in here just over two years ago.

Wrens are beautiful little birds I don't see enough of them here, either. Sounds like you had a good day in Wales, though, despite your fellow birders!

Hi John .. from another proud "Yorkie" ... Wink

I was down at RSPB Conwy just after it fully opened .. as you say, what a pleasant little Reserve .. I saw lots of Robins there but unlike the type we're all used to seeing .. these had very "rusty", orange breasts .. I think they were probably European migrants ..

I know what you mean about Hides .. I sometimes despair .. (even with Members of my local RSPB Group) .. who will insist on sticking an arm out of the viewing slot to point out a bird to someone else ... Duh ... Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad

We also have two particular lady Members who do more "gassing" than birding .. it's got so bad that after getting off the mini bus, I wait to see which way they go .. and then I set off in the opposite direction ... Laughing

Bye for now ..

Kev ..
